Sometimes i can't help but to feel that the more i work, the more disgusted i am by all these UGLY human behaviours with the ultimate motive of climbing up the corporate ladder and gaining a "status" in life. Don't get me wrong, i am not saying that it is wrong to be ambitious and career-minded. In fact, humans should always seek for progression though not necessarily in the area of being a leader in the workplace since not everyone is meant or wants to be a leader. Progression can mean character building, or excelling in areas of your interests.
But playing all these dirty tricks are something that i despise greatly. To put it simply, forsaking one's integrity and searing one's conscience to gain a status in life is nothing glorious to boost about. What's more disgusting is when these supposedly "high-up-there" people exercise obvious treatment difference to others of lower levels, discouraging and insulting them just to feed their starving egos. Giving a task and not providing clear instructions but expecting their subordinates to read their minds, and worse still, expecting them to have the same working style as their own. HELLO?!!? If their subordinates can do these, they would have be in their positions and earning the same big fat paychecks, isn't it???? Sometimes, these people seem to lose their common sense when their head grows bigger. And EQ as well.
In my opinion, the leader of highest admiration is one who gain his achievements through honest means, yet remains humble, empathetic towards others, & most importantly, not losing that human touch. Such leaders are indeed few and truly a real gem.
In today's uncertain economic situations, the status one is holding on to might potentially be stripped off the next minute. Or unexpected events such as health issues might happen, paralysing one's ability to support themselves. Life throws at us challenges of one kind or another. Before one get forced to humble oneself by such unpleasants events, treating our fellow men with kindness is still the best policy. Afterall, what goes around indeed does comes around. It is just a matter of time.
