If getting good grades in school is all about your IQ, I would say that surviving in the workforce is mostly about E.Q..
After working for a couple of years, though not long of course, i realised that sometimes you just have to learn to say NO to other ppl's expectations and demands at time, even at the expense of dampening your work relationships with your colleague(s). I always remember how one of my ex-colleague used to tell me,"Annie, don't allow ppl to push you like that.". Being in the workforce for decades, this ex-colleague of mine sure spotted my nice personality that can be vulnerable to others who choose to abuse it, thinking that I am a pushover which I used to obediently obliged.
In case you think that I am likening myself to an angel, I know I am far from it coz I have my own weaknesses and imperfection which can make working with me a painful experience.
But I must admit that it doesn't pay to be too considerate to others, and often, it's a painful experience when you realised that they have turned "abusive" towards you.
I was taught the hard way through a couple of unpleasant experiences that happened a couple of months back, though now the "storm" has subsided.
All i can say is that it is my own choice of allowing others to bring "misery" into my life, coz if you read the word of advice which my ex-colleauge has given me in the beginning of this entry, you would see that she used the word "ALLOW". For your ease of reading, I have underlined and bold the word in the sentence.
So what can I say? To avoid more "heartache" and emotionally instability given that I have a sensitive nature, I am on a mission to build up my E.Q., but through none other ways than anticipating more "storms" in life.
I hope I can brave through them. :)
