The Dark Knight, WONDERFUL MOVIE!

As the title suggests, JX and I went to watch the Dark Knight On Monday. JX was all excited when he learnt that The Dark Knight is showing in cinema this month. So, we redeemed the tickets with the free GV movie coupons I won during the bowling competition (if you read my previous post).

In the beginning, i detested the joker as he is the bad guy in the movie, causing chaos in the city and engaging in illegal activities like robbing the bank for/with the mob. It's only rightful that he be arrested and even killed, to atone for all the wrongs he has done. But upon knowing that he is the victim of family violence and rejected by his wife (FYI, the scar on his face was done by his psychotic dad who wants him to have a permanent smile on his face which he obviously could not upon seeing his dad abused his mum, and his wife left him after he scarred himself in an attempt to console his disfigured wife), I begin to sympathize this character (regardless of whether the joker is cooking up stories about his disfigured face). The acting of the late Heath Ledger (who played the joker) makes the character comes to life. It's a pity that the entertainment industry lost such a young talent like him.

Though The Dark Knight is a fiction movie, the story highlighted the root of social problems cause by juvenile delinquents though definitely not to such an exaggerated scale in the Singapore context. But in other countries where law is more lax on the possession of firearms, we do hear of alarming news of gun killings by youths. It's such a sad thing that humans can be driven to such extreme of insanity to kill others when they are deprived of love.

Love, being so intangible, but yet is the most essential need of human's existence and the undeniable constant nourishment for the soul. This, indeed, is an undebatable truth.

To comment a little more about the movie, Batman was so MAN! Seeing how he came to the rescue during those crucial moments, it just makes me want to fall into his arms, mesmerised and be protected by him forever. Wwweeeeeeee .... ;)

To sum it up, it's a great movie worth your every dollar, and cent ;)

Hope your weekend has been enjoyable, my dear frens!

Department Outing on last friday

Our licensing dept was on half day work last Friday... We gathered for buffet lunch @ Conrad Hotel, followed by a game of bowling at Marina Square.

On a personal note, buffet lunch is never an option i will consider for my meals as I never seem to eat the worth no matter how hard I try to stuff all the food i possibly could. To me, it seems more like a grab-and-stuff-all-you-can mission than an enjoyment. Somehow, it is more of a waste of $ than an indulgence, and especially so when i do not know how to appreciate raw food like Sashimi, smoked salmon, or even expensive seafood like oysters and mussels. The more expensive food i grabbed were crayfish and prawns, which apparently can be easily found in Chomp Chomp or Newton Circle.

Buffet lunch at Conrad was delicious though. I had an enjoyable time peeling the prawns for my colleagues and myself. As lame as this might sound, i felt a sense of achievement when ppl marvelled at how i managed to use the utensils instead of my hands to do the peeling. Then, they started to comment on how patient and feminine i am to be able to do this which obviously wasn't the truth. Haa. Anyway, i love the vanilla ice-cream wafer and raspberry ice-cream, though the latter tasted more like raspberry ice kachang but i like it as it's not too sweet. While i was away topping up my food, my manager came over to our table and told my colleagues abt the missing Sashimi on the Sushi. Apparently, someone took the Sashimi and left the rice "naked". Funny habit that some ppl have. The lunch lasted for 2 short hours afterwhich we proceed to our next programme..

As it was compulsory that everyone must participate in the bowling game, i was "forced" to play the game which i never have the slightest interest in. The game lasted for a long 3-hour. Nonetheless, i had my first try on the game, thinking that i might grow to like it. We played for 3 sets and pathetically, my ball kept swerving to the left, into the drain. The last set's score was the most pathetic, with only 4 pins hit. My sup and colleagues were all shouting hooray when i finally break the straight zero record. haha.. One of my colleagues commented that i should maintain the nice score @ 0 .. ahaha...

When the game finally ended, i was too ashamed of my scores by then and discreetly went to the toilet when the rest gathered for prize-giving presentation. Shortly after, my sup called me asking of my whereabouts and told me that i won a prize! Initially, i thought she was kidding me but ltr realised that it was true as i was awarded the Best-try award.. a pair of GV movie tickets as a consolation!. hahha!! At least my efforts didn't gone to waste... ;)

But one thing's for sure is i'll never go for bowling as i have concluded that it's not my type of game... & i'm grateful that JX doesn't bowl as well. :)
